The Prendiparte Tower

Imagine sleeping in a 900-year-old tower in the heart of a medieval town in Italy. You can fulfill this fantasy in Bologna, where the Prendiparte Tower, one of the few remaining towers in town, has been converted into a bed & breakfast consisting of one multi-level suite. It sleeps up to four people but it is generally reserved by couples, especially to celebrate an anniversary or a birthday or simply to spend aromantic night in a magical building suffused with history.

“It is a place that emphasizes feelings, that allows you to dream, to test the sensitivity of your partner, his or her attention to the peculiar, the historical, the beautiful,” saysthe tower’s owner, Matteo Giovanardi, a jovial Bolognese man who inherited the tower in 1972 from his father, who had bought it both to make an investment and to fulfill his passion for historical buildings. Giovanardi himself lived in the tower before transforming it into a B&B. “Living in such a place allows you to completely isolate yourself from the outside world, to really be alone with yourself. It amplifies your senses. Protected by the thick ancient walls, your emotions are more easily released.”

Summer, New England by Brian Ferry

Brian Ferry is NY-based photographer we don't need to present much because he is a splendid story-teller himself and presents his way of seeing life through his images. Mastermind of light and simple details, Brian is a poet of things we look at but don't see. His homeland project is a pure feast.


"I grew up in Connecticut and I really enjoy summertime in New England. There are many cliches about New England summers - the ocean, Cape Cod, lobster rolls, etc. All of these are probably true, but for me, there is something more subtle and expansive about summertime in New England. I think about colors and sounds and smells - a particular shade of green, a lonely fog, an open window, sticky and humid nights, a rum hangover, sitting on the porch in a thunderstorm. The necessity of changing your routine to deal with the heat & humidity, fleeing the sweltering city for the countryside, the sound of cicadas. I hate to romanticize things, and this is more about personal memory. This series of photos is my attempt to translate the feeling of my summers into images."

Huacachina, Peru's Magnificent Desert Oasis

Just 8 km away from the city of Ica, in southern Peru, lies the picturesque desert oasis of Huacachina. Built around a small natural lake and surrounded by enormous sand dunes that stretch several hundred feet high, Huacachina has the looks and feel of a remote Saharan outpost, but in reality is only an hour’s drive away from the Pacific coast. Huacachina has long been a tourist destination for wealthy local families from the nearby city of Ica, and lately a major destination for sandborders who travel from all around the world to ride the peaks.

The oasis is basically a collection of resorts and restaurants around a blue-green lagoon surrounded by huge sand dunes, with a permanent population of around 100, who depend entirely on tourism.
